My Healing Nest

“There’s nothing I like better than going to my apartment, closing the door, cooking my little dinner for one and just tuning out.  It’s a nest where I go to heal.” ~ Tim Gunn

So much has already changed for me this year…a new house, new views, new business projects. My life is so radically different than from even a month ago, I can’t believe it.

And, yet, I can.

Over the last year, I began to heal. This transition is just part of that healing process.

When I read Tim Gunn’s quote (by the way I love Tim Gunn and Project Runway), it totally hit home. My new location is that nest. It is where I am learning to breathe again. It is from here I move into the next phase of my life.

Rest and Growth Creates Need for a Healing Nest

We all go through phases of growth and rest. We get stuck when we don’t honor the process and try to rush or ignore it.  I don’t like being stuck, do you?

When you feel accomplished or successful it is because your actions align with your vision for our lives.  Success is not confined to work.  It can be in how we raise our kids, how we care for our parents, or how we interact with nature.  Success can be how we eat, sleep or even just be.

How To Create A Healing Nest

Start by finding a space where you feel inspired and safe.  It can be a spare room, or even just a shelf on a bookcase where you can focus when you feel out of control.

Next, visit your healing nest regularly.  Take a couple minutes just to center in your space.  This creates the calm you need when you come to the space in a whirlwind.

Creating a safe space where you can heal and rest is crucial.  Where is your space?

What Do You Think?

Where is your “nest?”

What is your favorite bird?

Are you a fan of Project Runway too? 🙂
