Reflecting Back to Look Forward

Reflecting - Journal the most important event from the last 10 years and see what you find.
There are those who hate to see their birthday arrive. Ah, but not I. For each year is a gift, each day is a gift. I am thankful and am grateful for this day of my birth. I find motivation within to live this year so let it begin!.”  ~ Theodore W. Higginsworth

Happy Birthday Maisy!

We just celebrated Maisy’s adopted 10th birthday.  Thank you for all the sweet messages on Facebook.

Ten years is a significant mile marker. Reflecting back to the day I brought her home, my sister was visiting me in Seattle.  It wasn’t what I expected us to do while she visited, but when you meet the right dog, well, I’m sure you understand.

My life is so different now.  Not that I expected it to be the same, but it goes to show, you never know what will come.  At that time, I was still working for Starbucks, living in Seattle, not thinking about moving back to Boston.

Reflecting On The Past

I think reflecting on our past is important, not to get stuck there or always be longing for it, but instead get into the mindset of where you were and where you are now.  Then let the learnings inform your future.

This week think back to your life ten years ago. What was happening? What did you believe? What were your goals and dreams? What did you hold onto and what have you let go?

Journal the most important event of each of the ten years.  What do you notice? What had you forgotten? Have those events influenced where you are today? Do they bring to mind what you want to do in the future?

Our past can help inform our future, when we use it as a tool.  Enjoy your journey this week.

P.S. Another ten year celebration is coming in the fall…10 years of Life Simplified Business Solutions!  Yikes!
